Our vineyard is professionally managed by a vineyard management firm. Over 40 years experience managing Sauvignon Blanc vineyards results in quality grapes.
We manage for quality, not quantity. Fruit load is targeted at 5 tons per acre. We use a quadrilateral trellis system with a north-south orientation, taking full advantage of east-west sun. Our canopy is managed with a careful eye towards leaf-to-fruit ratios. We pay close attention to weed cutting, shoot control and necessary leaf removal during the growing season. Pruning in March is done by experienced hands. We're careful to provide enough cover to guard against heat stress while thinning sufficiently to encourage development of important compounds in the grapes. The vineyard is hand picked at night during the fall harvest.
